How to get honest customer feedback
To get honest customer feedback, make it safe and easy to be candid. Guarantee anonymity, ask one or two open questions right after the experience, let people answer in their own words (speaking is easiest), and only look at the answers as a group. Say what you changed because of it, so people answer again.
1. Make it genuinely anonymous
People soften criticism when they think it can be traced. Say plainly that answers are anonymous, and use a tool where that is true by design, not a setting you could switch off.
2. Ask at the moment it happened
Send the question just after the purchase, delivery or support call, while the detail is fresh. A post-purchase email or the receipt is the natural place.
3. Ask open questions, and fewer of them
"What nearly stopped you buying?" teaches you more than ten ratings. Three to five open questions is plenty.
4. Let people speak
Typing a paragraph on a phone is a chore; saying it takes thirty seconds. Spoken answers are longer and closer to what people actually think.
5. Don't read answers one at a time
Reading the first angry answer on its own invites guessing who wrote it, and overreacting. Wait until several are in and look for the patterns.
6. Offer a small thank-you, not a bribe
A discount code shown after answering raises response rates without buying praise.
7. Close the loop
Tell customers what you changed because of their feedback. It is the strongest reason for them to answer next time.

Pricing
A flat price per link by the number of answers it takes, charged once when it goes live. No subscription.
Questions
Why is anonymous feedback more honest?
Because people weigh the risk of being identified against the value of saying something. Remove the risk and they say the uncomfortable things, which are usually the most useful.
How many customers do I need to ask?
Patterns usually show within 10 to 20 thoughtful answers to open questions. Start small, act on what you learn, then ask again.
