What to write in a feedback request email after an order
A post-purchase survey email is short and plain: one line saying the order or service is done, one sentence asking how it went, a promise that answering is anonymous and takes two minutes, the link, and what the thank-you code is worth. Send it once, after the experience rather than the purchase, with no rating request beside it. On Clearvoyance the link is an open-link campaign that people answer by voice or text.
Three post-purchase survey emails you can copy
After a delivery. "Hi [name], your [product] should be with you by now. Would you tell us how it went, from ordering to opening the box? It takes about two minutes, it is anonymous, and you can speak or type your answers. [link] When you finish, the screen shows a thank-you code for [code] off your next order. We read every answer. [your name], [business]"
After a service or booking. "Hi [name], thank you for booking with us on [date]. Now that it is done, we would like to hear how it went, in your own words. Two minutes, anonymous, by voice or by text. [link] A thank-you code for [code] off your next booking appears once you have answered. [your name], [business]"
For a first-time customer. "Hi [name], this was your first order with [business], so your view matters more than most. What made you try us, and what nearly stopped you? Two minutes, anonymous, speak or type. [link] At the end you will see a code for [code] off your second order. [your name], [business]" Replace [link] with your share link and [code] with what the thank-you is worth, such as 10% off.
Three honest subject lines
- "Two minutes on your [product], anonymous": says what it is and what it costs them before they open it.
- "How did your [service] go?": a real question, answered by the email, not a hook for something else.
- "Your first order with [business]: what did you think?": names the reason you are asking this person and not everyone.
- Avoid "Quick question?", "Re:" on a thread that never existed, and anything that reads like a dispatch notice. People tricked into opening an email do not then speak honestly inside it.
The rules that make it work
- Send it once. No reminder, no "still waiting to hear from you". Someone who did not answer has given you an answer.
- Send it after the experience, not after the purchase: when the parcel has landed, when the appointment is over, after the first week of use. Feedback on an order that has not arrived is feedback on your shipping estimate.
- Say it is anonymous and say two minutes. Both are true of a Clearvoyance link, because nothing stored connects an answer to a person. Say them in the email, not in a footnote.
- Offer one thank-you code, shown after someone answers. Not points and not a prize draw. A code for the next order keeps the exchange plain.
- Never ask for a rating alongside it. A star rating in the same email turns an open question into a score, and people who have just rated you feel finished.
- Keep the questions in the link, not in the email. Three open questions are enough: what nearly stopped you, what would make you come back, what should we change.
How the link works on Clearvoyance
- You start an open-link campaign with up to 10 questions and a cap of 10, 50, 100 or 200 answers. You get one share link, and the campaign closes by itself at the cap. Where to place the link in the email is covered at clearvoyance.ai/market-research-link.
- The customer taps the link on a phone or computer and answers each question out loud or by typing. "I prefer text" is offered on every voice question, "Use microphone instead" on every typed one. They review the transcript, can edit it, and submit. No account, no app.
- One answer per device: duplicates are detected by hashed IP and device fingerprint, and nothing from that check is stored in a way that links to an answer.
- Your thank-you text is shown only after the person has answered, so the email can promise a code without printing it.
- You watch the participation count rise. No answer is visible until five people have answered; then every transcript unlocks at once with an AI report of the themes, the sentiment, representative quotes and an executive summary. Transcripts export as CSV.
- Recordings are transcribed and discarded, never stored. Answers and the report are deleted 30 days after the campaign closes, so export what you want to keep before then.
When not to send it
- To one-off buyers you will never email again. A code for the next order means nothing to them, and you will not be able to act on what they say for them. Ask the customers you will see again.
- When fewer than five people are likely to answer. Results unlock at five answers and the price is not refunded if fewer arrive. Wait until a month's orders will carry the link, or send a targeted campaign to at least 10 named people instead.
- To a customer whose complaint is already open. Reply to the complaint. An anonymous survey link in the middle of a dispute reads as a brush-off, and they will say so publicly instead.
- To customers who do not read or speak English. Transcription, the answer pages and the emails are English only.
Pricing
A flat price per link by the number of answers it takes, charged once when it goes live. No subscription.
Questions
When should I send a post-purchase survey email?
After the experience has happened, not after payment: a few days after the parcel is delivered, the day after a booking, or after the first week with a product that takes getting used to. Send it once, with no reminder.
How many customers will answer?
Nobody can promise you a response rate, and we will not. What matters is reaching five answers, because that is when your results unlock; one answer per device counts, and the link keeps working until it reaches the cap you chose.
Can I put the same link in every order email?
Yes. The link carries no identity, so the same one goes in every order confirmation, shipping email or receipt until it reaches its cap of 10, 50, 100 or 200 answers, then it closes by itself.
What does it cost?
A flat price for the cap you choose: $4.99 for up to 10 answers, $17.99 for 50, $29.99 for 100 and $49.99 for 200, paid once when you launch by card or from a Seeker wallet. No subscription and no per-answer fee.
Can my AI assistant write the questions and set it up?
Yes. Through the Clearvoyance connector, Claude, ChatGPT, Grok and other assistants can draft the questions, quote the price, save the campaign as a draft and later show you the share link and the report; it cannot pay, so you pay on clearvoyance.ai. The steps are at clearvoyance.ai/connect.
